Mystery, curiosity, try-try-try, risky, trust, transformation, strange… Do you think a plastic cup is a piece of jewellery? Probably not. Every material has it's hidden value. You just have to look for it. You could; jump on it for 30 minutes, shoot it from a distance of 25 meters, bake it in an oven for 3 days, try to plant it and wait for it to grow or you could just make it explode. Maybe, if you are lucky and patient enough that plastic cup could actually turn into something precious and unexpected, which will lead you to your piece of jewellery.

Beginning, Middle, Endless...

Beginning, Middle, Endless…is an international jewelry exhibition curated by Professor Heather White.
The exhibition is based on the Surrealist "Exquisite Corps" in which twenty neckpieces are on display.
Two different students living in different countries created each neckpiece. Half of the students are from
Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School, Florence Italy, the other from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston MA.
The students were asked to create one-half of a neckpiece and Heather White made curatorial decisions on pairings
and physically assembled the halves to make whole necklaces in which the unexpected ensues.
The exhibition will travel to Boston, MA USA in fall 2012.

Alchimia Jewellery school in Firenze presents ‘Profondo’ graduation exhibition of the third year/specialization course in contemporary jewellery taught by Ruudt Peters. A research focused on extending and deepening the working methods and personal reflections of each artist.

Eight different approaches and techniques led to heterogeneous experimentations, ranging from issues related to the complexity of relations between individuals, attempts to objectification of emotions, to growth as a result of a regulated destruction process. Set up in the basement of Piazza Piattellina Square, in the striking stone cellars of Alchimia, the exhibition is articulated as a fragmented path that expresses a discourse about the multiple possibilities and related significance of body adornment.
